From the Small Back Room is a collection of poems, essays and memoir to honour the poet and novelist, Ciaran Carson, on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday. Edited by W.R. Irvine, contributors to the volume include Seamus Heaney, Michael Longley, and Paul Muldoon. Professor Carson was born in Belfast where he still lives and works. He is the Director of the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry at Queen's University. The Limited Edition of From the Small Back Room consists of 150 copies, each individually bound and boxed by hand, and signed by Seamus Heaney, Neil Shawcross and Professor Carson himself.
